Making Cupcake Liner Flowers

When decorating the office desk is on the list for the new spring season look, this flower craft with cupcake liners will make the makeover easier within budget.

The cupcake paper flower is also great for preparing the back-to-school time. Make the study desk look fresh and colourful, ready for the new school year.

Material For Making Cupcake Liner Flower

You will need cupcake liners of any colour or size to make a flower out of cupcake liners. You can use some tacky glue or hot glue for the adhesive.

Tacky glue is excellent for bonding paper, fabric, or wood. I also use this glue for the fabric-covered corkboard project here. It is a strong glue, makes no mess, and dries fast.

Use multiple colour paper straws or match all paper straws for a more uniform look. Alternatively, use a twig, chopstick, or skewer stick.

To make one cupcake liner flower, I use six cupcake liners. The circumference of the flower is about three inches or four inches for full blooms.

  • Cupcake liners, any size and colour
  • Hot glue or tacky glue
  • Decorative paper straw (I use this one), bamboo skewer, or wooden dowel
  • Pompom
  • Scissors

Cupcake Liner Flower Tutorial

You can use multiple cupcake liners to achieve the desired flower size.

Fold the cupcake liner in half, then cut the crease to the base to look like paper fringe.

Apply the glue along the bottom of the cupcake wrapper.

Start wrapping the cupcake liner to the paper straw. Hold the bottom of the wrapper in place so it attaches to the paper straw.

Glue on the other cupcake liner, then wrap it to the paper straw on top of the first cupcake liner.

Keep adding cupcake liner until you get the flower size you need.

Glue all six cupcake liners to the paper straw.

Hold the base of the paper flower with your finger, and apply pressure on it to keep the paper liner and the glue dry.

Apply glue on the pompom, then attach it to the center of the paper flower.

Then carefully adjust the fringe so the paper flower looks fully blooming.

These cupcake liner flowers look close enough to carnation or strawflower shape.

Make multiple flowers to form a bouquet, and you can put them in the fabric-covered mason jar for the DIY vase or use the contrast colour vase for popping the colour of the cupcake liner flowers.

Baking cup flower craft is fun for weekend activities with family and friends to welcome the spring season.
