Painted Watermelon Clay Pot

Here is a fun and easy summer craft idea for making a painted watermelon clay pot. Use it as a flower pot to brighten the garden, as an office supply, or as a gift basket.

This is an easy and fun clay pot craft for summer activities. The watermelon craft is great for an upcycle project using the used flower pot or updating the garden by adding bright and colorful containers.

The watermelon clay pot will be ready in about 40 minutes. The active time from preparation to painting is around 10 minutes. The 30-minute period is for drying each paint color, but it might take less or need more time to dry completely.

Painted Watermelon Clay Pot Tutorial

Apply red paint on the clay pot below the rim to the base.

Let the red paint dry.

Once the red paint has dried, apply dark green paint around the rim.

Let the green paint dry. Mix the light green and white paint, then apply it to the clay pot between the dark green and red.

Let the light green paint dry. Draw watermelon seeds around the red paint. The painted watermelon clay pot is ready to use now.

Use lighter red paint, as some watermelon comes in lighter red or pink shades. Or use yellow paint for a yellow watermelon. Use darker green paint to resemble a darker watermelon rind for the rim.

The watermelon clay pot is not only for the plant as a mini container garden. It can also be a summer-themed pencil holder as a fun stationary organizer for a home office or class.

Another way to use the clay pot is as a treat holder. Put some candy treats, small toys, or hair accessories into the clay pot, then wrap it with cellophane for an easy DIY gift basket idea
