Helpful Tips To Make Felt Envelopes

Use any felt colour or customize the colour with each specific occasion.
Use contrasting colour ribbon, plain or with prints. Any ribbon type is perfect, lace, ric rac, satin, grosgrain, or a contrasting colour felt.

Use glue than stitching it if you prefer. But stitching the felt with contrasting colour thread or embroidery floss adds decoration to the envelope.

You can use a sewing machine with a straight stitch or zigzag stitch.
You can hand-sew the envelope using the running stitch if the sewing machine is unavailable.

Felt Gift Card Envelope Tutorial

Cut the felt into 3″ x 10″
Cut the ribbon into 4″

Seal both ribbon ends by using a lighter.

Measure 7″ from one corner of the short side to the long side.
Fold the felt in half lengthwise to the 7″ mark and pin it.

Mark 1.5″ on the flap.

Draw a line from both corners of the pouch opening to resemble a triangle.

Cut it along the triangle line on the flap.

Pin the ribbon on the pouch 1″ below the pouch opening. Tuck both ribbon ends inside the envelope pouch.

Thread the embroidery floss or sewing thread on the needle, and sew along the envelope edge using a running stitch or whip stitch.

Alternatively, use the sewing machine with a straight stitch, zigzag stitch, pin stitch, or blanket stitch.

Put the gift card inside the pouch, and tuck the envelope flap under the ribbon.

Now the gift card holder is ready for the gift receiver.

The gift card size is about the same as a credit card or business card, which is 2.125″ by 3.37″. The felt envelope on this tutorial is 3″ by 3.5″, which fits the gift card.
